View of the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory Monumental Building

The Workshop will be hosted by the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory (OAC). OAC is located on the top of the Miradois hill, inside a quiet and green area that offers a fine view on the city and the bay of Naples. It is also at a walking distance form the Capodimonte Royal Palace Museum a unique, amongst European museums, for its combination of old masters and the most recent artistic exploits.

OAC was established in 1819 (see an historical note), with an initial staff of only four astronomers and as many technicians. Nowadays, it is one of the twelve Astronomical Observatories in Italy, belonging to the Italian National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), which is the principal Italian Institution for astronomical and astrophysical research.

The Auditorium, with its 270 seats and equipped with advanced technical multimedia infrastructures, will host the oral technical sessions and round table discussions.
