How to reach the Capodimonte Observatory
How to get to the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory
The best way to get to the Astronomical Observatory is to use a Taxi. OAC is not far form the City center and is just 8 km far from the Capodichino Airport (NAP) and 6 km from the Main Train Station (Napoli Centrale - Piazza Garibaldi), see a map of Naples with relevant locations.
We also offer a free Shuttle Bus Service connecting Naples Downtown to OAC, see
Shuttle Bus section of this site.
Taxi
Taxis in Naples are white and can be found parked in many touristic points in the city. They can also be called by phone (RadioTaxi); some companies offering the RadioTaxi service are listed below:

Taxis run on meter. Customers may alternatively choose flat fares (for some specific destination), which must be requested at the beginning of the trip. From the Airport
From the airport, it should take about 15-20 minutes by taxi. If you would like to take a bus, take the Alibus (or 3S) until Piazza Garibaldi (Main Station); then, follow the direction from the train station (next paragraph).
By train
From the main station, it should take about 15-20 minutes by taxi. If you would like to take a bus, go to the stop close to the Garibaldi Statue in Piazza Garibaldi (Main Station Square) and take the bus R2 until the S. Carlo theatre. Then, take the bus R4 until the "regresso" of Capodimonte". From here you can either have a 20 minutes walk to the Observatory, or take the bus c63 for two stops until the gate of the Capodimonte Museum Park called "Porta Grande" (Large Gate); from the bus stop, the first street on the right is Salita Moiariello: after 100 m you will find the Astronomical Observatory.
By car
Arriving in Naples from the Highway, take the "Tangenziale" (the ring road) and up to the exit number 5 "Capodimonte". From here, drive until a tree-lined round (tondo di Capodimonte); then go around it to go on the opposite way of the same road (you are making a U-turn). At the next traffic light turn on the right. After 200 m the first street on the right is Salita Moiariello, after 100 m you will find the Astronomical Observatory.
